About This Role

Virtusa is seeking a talented individual to join their team as a Senior Consultant. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical design and development of Databricks-based data pipelines and frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering and experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and Apache Spark. They will be responsible for leading the design and development of modern data engineering and transformation platforms.

This is a hands-on leadership position that requires strong technical skills, as well as the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert in Databricks, Delta Lake, and Apache Spark, and will play a key role in shaping the company's data platform.

Requirements

B.E/B.Tech degree in Computer Science or related field
Strong understanding of data engineering concepts and technologies
Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and Apache Spark
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Responsibilities

Take ownership of the technical design and development of Databricks-based data pipelines and frameworks
Create and review data ingestion, transformation, and publishing processes using the Bronze–Silver–Gold architecture
Establish best practices for Delta Lake, including schema evolution, SCD handling, and metadata-driven transformations
Provide technical guidance and leadership across multiple data engineering teams
Collaborate closely with architects, data modelers, QA teams, and operations to ensure high-quality pipeline implementation
Mentor junior data engineers and help strengthen the overall engineering standards within the team
Manage Unity Catalog governance, including access control (RBAC), data lineage, and schema enforcement
