About This Role

Virtusa is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Consultant to join their team in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Databricks, Delta Lake, and Apache Spark, and will be responsible for leading the design and development of modern data engineering and transformation platforms.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical expertise and will be able to provide technical guidance and leadership across multiple data engineering teams. They will also be responsible for mentoring junior data engineers and helping to strengthen the overall engineering standards within the team.

This is a hands-on leadership position that requires a strong technical expertise and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Requirements

B.E/B.Tech degree in Computer Science or related field
Strong understanding of Databricks, Delta Lake, and Apache Spark
Experience with data engineering and transformation platforms
Excellent technical leadership and mentoring skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

Take ownership of the technical design and development of Databricks-based data pipelines and frameworks
Create and review data ingestion, transformation, and publishing processes using the Bronze–Silver–Gold architecture
Establish best practices for Delta Lake, including schema evolution, SCD handling, and metadata-driven transformations
Provide technical guidance and leadership across multiple data engineering teams
Mentor junior data engineers and help strengthen the overall engineering standards within the team
Manage Unity Catalog governance, including access control (RBAC), data lineage, and schema enforcement
Identify and resolve complex performance issues, while guiding teams on optimization and tuning strategies
