About This Role

Sense is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Engineering Intern to join their team in Bengaluru. As a Backend Engineering Intern, you will work closely with the Core Engineering team to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that support critical business systems and customer-facing features.

The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for backend development, cloud infrastructure, and building scalable APIs. You will have the opportunity to tackle real engineering challenges and work across the full backend stack including APIs, databases, caching layers, and cloud infrastructure.

This is a phenomenal opportunity for students currently pursuing their degrees to gain real-world experience at a high-growth HR Tech SaaS company backed by Google Ventures, SoftBank, and Accel.

Requirements

Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
Experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and scalable APIs
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Passion for backend development and building scalable systems

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that support critical business systems and customer-facing features
Work closely with the Core Engineering team to tackle real engineering challenges
Contribute to live production systems and learn modern backend development practices
Work across the full backend stack including APIs, databases, caching layers, and cloud infrastructure
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
