About This Role

DAT Freight & Analytics is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineer to join our team. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and architectures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in computer science and software engineering, with a focus on data engineering and analytics. You will have experience working with cloud-based data warehouses, such as Snowflake, and be proficient in programming languages like Python and SQL.

Requirements

Strong proficiency in Python and advanced knowledge of SQL
Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse, preferably Snowflake
Familiarity with data transformation concepts and tools, specifically dbt
Basic experience creating or running jobs/workflows using an orchestration tool like Apache Airflow
Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive, collaborative approach to teamwork
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
1-3 years of professional experience in a Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or similar technical role

Responsibilities

Assist senior engineers in designing, building, testing, and maintaining cloud-native ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) data pipelines
Develop and maintain data models using dbt (data build tool) for data cleaning, aggregation, and transformation
Write, optimize, and review complex SQL queries for data manipulation, transformation, and performance tuning on Snowflake
Utilize Python to build custom data extraction scripts, implement monitoring tools, and contribute to general automation efforts
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
Ensure data is reliably loaded into Snowflake and troubleshoot issues as they arise
