Navigating the Challenge of High Expectations

People who have an urban childhood can relate to this phase of their life. This marketing giant started with the idea of becoming a doctor. Being born in a family of educated parents, his parents, wanted to see him as a doctor. It was just the societal pressure even today, that the second-generation kids can relate to. But God had other plans for him. He ended up studying Bio-Tech for his bachelor's. As science is a dear subject to him, he also dreamt of being a scientist at that point in life. His parents ensured that he learned the value of money and the hard work it takes to earn it. He took quite some time to choose a career path. He connected with people working in different roles and took mentorship and advice to understand the best career path to pursue based on his strengths and weaknesses.

Figuring out his purpose in life:

He always quested for financial freedom. This attitude of his made him work since 8th grade and did not make him settle for slow settling career. He knew that he was good at selling as sales were always in the part of his day. He chose an MBA after a year of working, after his graduation. He pretty much took his time to make his intention of achieving the goal solid. Since then, there has been no looking back. As he already had his savings he funded his masters all by himself. He was even working full-time while studying MBA.

The hustle story

During his MBA he joined as a business development executive in a US-based IT consulting company. Where he mastered the art of sales and communicating with clients, this was around 2008, when he was active on LinkedIn. This made him increase his professional network and improve his interactions with them. With a lot of self-learning and self-improvement, he joined consulting after his graduation, where he got a 100% hike in salary as he built an entire team from scratch which helped the company to grow 4X.

He worked for a few years in consulting and gained a lot of global exposure working with clients from different countries. His job was no longer challenging enough and he wanted to start something new. Maybe it is that never-settling attitude that is common in every entrepreneur.

The start-up story

Enoch always dreamt of starting a business that would stand on its own feet, bringing in revenue right from the start. His startup focused on driving growth for B2B Companies through Account Based Marketing and Inbound Marketing. Without dipping into his savings, he spread the word among those around him. Fortunately, the support poured in. With his wife Ankita Katuri as a co-founder, they launched The Smarketers, a company dedicated to helping B2B organizations tackle marketing and sales challenges. Their first customer came on board within a month.

Enoch and Ankita carefully selected their clients, making strategic moves to ensure success. What began as a two-person venture has now grown into a 72-member team. The Smarketers, thriving with a strong and optimized website, exclusively caters to B2B companies, focusing on established companies with minimum one-year contracts.
